The Railway Taverners Golf Society

The Railway Taverners Golf Society, Framingham Earl and Poringland was established in March 2018 and now boasts 48 players.

Our aim is to bring together golfers of all ages and abilities and have a great deal of fun and enjoy some of the wonderful golf courses in the County.

Club Secretary Adey Ewing said: “We were delighted by the way our Society has grown and gone from strength to strength in 2 years.

We play 6 matches spread over April to September and on average we turn out 24 to 36 golfers at each match. The main focus is the golf and we return to The Railway for the presentations, some banter and enjoy the hospitality of Tracey, Dave and the staff who lay on some very welcome food!

There is an annual Membership Fee of just £10! If you’re interested in joining us please e-mail me using the link below or pop in The Railway and ask the bar staff for a membership slip. We look forward to meeting you!”.

The Railway Taverners Golf Society Charity Donation 2019

A total of £1850 was raised smashing last year’s £1100 out of the park!!” The society’s committee decided it should once again be split equally between 2 local charities. Mr Ewing said: “Once again we wanted to support The Nook Appeal who have done such a marvellous job in raising funds to complete the new East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH) being built just round the corner from the pub. The keys are due to be handed over any day soon! The second charity to benefit, The East Anglian Air Ambulance, was the choice of our Captain David ‘Harry’ Harris. Mr Harris said’ “We realised the importance the Air Ambulance makes in saving lives when a couple years ago, one of our friends was very seriously injured in a cycling accident in the countryside. The swift response from the Air Ambulance saved her life so it something near to home”.
